We can only hope that one day this country can be as advanced as Greece.

Every time I read that statistic somewhere it scares me more.

I loves me some evolution.

I dated a girl (actually, almost married her) that didn't "believe" in evolution. Her whole family was like that. It really was kind of bizarre, to have a discussion with 3-5 sentient beings over the age of 16 that really, truly, firmly believed that everything ever in the universe that developed happened completely by magic in an instant.

Believe it or not, that wasn't the reason we didn't get married, but that's another story for another time.

So, just for fun (and yes, it says some frightening things about me that I think of this as fun) I plugged the list of nations above into the World Health Organization's statistical database of health indicators. In Darwin's honor, I selected reproductive health indicators, like perinatal mortality rates, contraceptive prevalence (modern methods), birth outcomes, and low birthweight prevalence.

Some interesting correlations. The more widely evolution is accepted, the greater the prevalence of modern contraceptives. Turkey, the country with the lowest acceptance for evolution, had the highest perinatal mortality rate. I guess you don't have to believe in natural selection for it to apply to you!

If they'd just change the name, I might move to number one on the list.
