This morning I remembered a great idea I had as I was falling asleep last night: I can write a book about the field work I did in the Congo. I was amazed as I thought of it last night that it hadn't occurred to me sooner. It was such a great adventure, and would make a wonderful story.
Except I've never been to the Congo.
And as I was walking Buddy this morning, I heard a bell very clearly. It sounded like it was just behind me to my left, and it was so clear and so loud that I thought a bicycle would pass me immediately. (Some people in DC do this when they ride on the sidewalk. I am generally unimpressed and tend not to acknowledge it.) When no bike passed, I looked around and realized that I was alone on the street, save the cars going by.

You should... Visit the congo on a field work mission, and write a book about it.
and the ding was the southwest airlines bell... you're now free to move around the universe. ;)
