watch out for executive orders
while we were stringing lott up for what we already knew about him and the republicans were banging their pots and pans so loudly that a girl had to wonder what was going on behind the mele, Bush was quietly pushing through an executive order that makes it OK for religious organizations that are receiving government funds (uh, pardon? oh right, faith based initiative. smile and wave to the christian right!) to discriminate based on religion when hiring. Here's the thing: a methodist hospital that is receiving government funds - dollars from your pocket and mine (but not so much from the pockets of the rich boigots who can hire an accountant to find all the loopholes in the tax laws) - can decide not to hire the most qualified candidate for mental health services because she is jewish. That was what the President (sic) was doing while we were frothing over lott.
If you get a minute, also, take a look at Frist and his family business and why they had to pay fines very recently for bad behavior.
going home tomorrow for a couple days ... about 48 hours actually. not nearly enough time but i'll take what i can get.
things are changing for me. it's time to stand up.
