yesterday, vjb suggested a spinning class this morning at the Y.
we went at 9:15.
i can say that i get why people do it - the guided workout is really cool, the music is fun, and you really do have control over the intensity of your workout. i am looking forward to doing it again.
but, at the same time, i have to say, i'm uh ... a little sore in the "saddle area." could they pad the seats more, pls? also, you put your feet in these little cages on the pedals, and the place where you can put your water bottle isn't really intuitive - at least, not to me at 9:15am on a saturday. mazzie + early morning + water + new thing = spazztastic.

The good news is the more regularly you ride, the less it hurts. Some is that you learn to shift yourself to the most comfortable position and some is the area gets accustomed to the abuse. Unfortunately, the adjustment period isn't fun.

A friend of mine who lives in Ithaca is thinking about getting her certification to tach spinning, too! She's in town visiting family, and I think she and I will go to the same class together next Saturday.
I was talking to the instructor afterwards, and she seemed impressed that I lasted longer than 15 minutes, which I think is funny. :) I'll definitely go back, despite the discomfort. I will have to take your and sskip's word that I will get used to the saddle pain. It is certainly teating me how to sit gingerly.
I'm considering getting together a group of people I love to run the marine corps marathon next october. would you consider it?

Seriously people drop like flies their first time. You are obviously in great shape to kick butt the first time. If people aren't, they really struggle plus here's a lot to get used to, the positions and resistance and finding the beat of the music all fusing together. If you have bad balance it's a real struggle. I meant to ask you what kind of guided imagery the instructor used? Like ok now we're on a beach riding through the sand or like, there is a tack on your shoe and you can't put it down all the way?
You mean like, 26 miles?! Holy shit girl. You are my hero to even think about that. What is your training plan? I would consider it, although after last night's run that sucked total ass I'm wondering what the hell I'm thinking. Plus, I might be pregnant by then. But if you commit to it, I would think about it.
