Once again I am forced to wonder why, instead of, say, going to a cool blues club in the neighborhood on a Friday night, I don't just give someone all my money, put a lit cigarette in my mouth, and stick my head directly in my ass for a few hours.
The end result would be about the same, I think.

countermeasures are indicated. i'm thinking tater tots.

Mmmm. Tater Tot Hotdish! I figured I could post that after you, rather than separately because I know you know what I'm talking about. Don't deny it, you're in Minnesota, I checked.

Hm. So it's likely you've heard the term "tater tot hotdish", but entirely possible you didn't know (and didn't want to know) what the speaker was talking about. Got it.

I've been going out on Fridays to an 80's/90's night, showing up early (9:30p) to avoid the measly (yet Ithaca-excessive) $5 cover. My peeps don't show up until 10:30-11, unless I go with someone or one or two other cover-charge avoiders show up early as well. Last night I was by myself, surrounded by mundane folk for over an hour before Sarah showed up. It was really uncomfortable, and I honestly considered leaving but didn't because I'd had a drink. Glad I didn't, for it turned into a very good evening.

No morals, no advice, just sharing an experience. I won't go out to a club unless I'm with people or will be meeting up with people. The thing about last night was I never really know who's going to show up - if anybody.

Misunderstanding

I thought your initial message meant you stayed home Friday night. Now I'm not sure if you did or not. Regardless, enjoy the tater tots.

Re: Misunderstanding

oh, ja, i went out. $10 cover, $20 drink minimum to run a tab. heh. singing "proud mary" in front of a bunch of white kids from georgetown: priceless.

Was the music any good though? I'm also tempted to use my new icon too...

Hopefully because (and I'm taking this as a matter of faith) Jazz Clubs have more people in them and slightly more ambiance then your ass.

"Ambiance" is a word that I don't usually associate with people's backside...

Construction Worker #1 "mmmmmhm! did you see that fine piece of ass?"

Construction Worker #2 "Yes, Quite ambient!"

oh em gee

Etymology: Latin ambient-, ambiens, present participle of ambire to go around, from ambi- + ire to go -- more at ISSUE
: existing or present on all sides
