The Metro is pretty laden with ads from a company that co-opted the prevailing message(s):


We walked to the Rayburn:


and got in and through security pretty quickly. Then we managed to get on a Members Only elevator:


but there were no Members around, just long, austere, empty hallways. And a custodian:


We found the office:


and got the tickets:


Then we wandered toward the Capitol:


where we think we found where we'll be standing tomorrow, according to our tickets and the map:


Then we wandered toward the concert, and stopped by MSNBC's booth to wave and get on tv:


While we were there, we learned that the entries to the concert were closed, so we watched on the Mall:


and sang "This Land is Your Land" and "America the Beautiful" with a million people, including this kind and enthusiastic couple near us:


When it was all said and done, we went to the Natural History Museum and had some much-needed food and warm beverages in their cafeteria. We met a nice woman in town from Chicago while we warmed up, rested our feet and got the energy to head back to U Street for cake:
