shameless flornication

My friend, [livejournal.com profile] pkdan, is a crazy-cool hipster.

He's been producing and starring (pod jockeying?) in podcasts since January. You can find his florn podcast here and his caffeineland podcast (with another crazy hipster friend of mine, [livejournal.com profile] mhaithaca) here.

[livejournal.com profile] pkdan has not only seized a great opportunity in being one of the pioneers of what has the potential to be the Next Big Thing (tm), but he has done it with humor, grace, heart, and intelligence, and is truly a pleasure to listen to. (Even when he sings with [livejournal.com profile] jccohen, but don't tell either of them I said that.)

The thing about brushing elbows with bigtime stars is occasionally it ushers in your fifteen minutes (or 45 seconds) of fame. I was fortunate enough to wiggle my way into his latest broadcast, during which he was kind enough to read some of my prose.

It's strangely fantastic to hear my prose on someone else's lips. [livejournal.com profile] pkdan was the very first, and did it in a way that is sure to curl your toes as it did mine.

You should go listen. Really.

So you don't have to kill us?

[identity profile] mazzie.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
it's still under consideration.
watch your step, rosepose boy.

Muhwahahahaha!

That's not PROSE, that's POETRY.

Do you ever get tired of the lies Mazzie? Do you ever think, just for a second, "Maybe I'll tell the truth today. Maybe I won't LIE to [livejournal.com profile] socratic but switch things up by uttering something that is not a COMPLETE AND UTTER FALSEHOOD?" I'll bet you don't. I'll bet it doesn't even occur to you.

Lying, it's what's for dinner.

I listened. Wonderful stuff. Well done you...

I'll make you a star

Just send me something to read, and I'll read it on the show. I'm easy, just ask my wife.

I'm digging them both. They will definitely be featured in an upcoming podcast.

Let me know how you want to be attributed.

And thanks!

cool!

I don't mind either being dakegra (pronounced dah-keh-gruh) or just Dave Graham from Yorkshire, England.

Nice to meet you last night. I will add you back! :)

No time to listen to the reading right now--I'm at work--but I will.

Cheers!

nice to meet you, too!

For those of us hopelessly out of the loop.. what's a podcast?

[identity profile] mazzie.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
it's a digital recording that's in a suitable format for iPods. you can also play them directly, though. my browser plays them in Quicktime. it's like your own digital distributable radio show. so cool!

[identity profile] verymelm.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
That is neat! I'm listening to it now. How odd it is to hear Dan's voice after all these years!!

[identity profile] mazzie.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
oddly familiar, isn't it? :)

[identity profile] allisburning.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, I wouldn't want to actually be one and wouldn't be good at it, but it would be wonderful to have business cards reading:

.

hah!
that would be very cool.
maybe i'll make some for dan ... hmm :D
