TIME OUT

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has told lawmakers they should be "considering" another stimulus package. He said a new stimulus plan should be "targeted" and focused on ways to "help improve access to credit by consumers, home buyers, businesses and other borrowers."

Uh, I'm no economist, but isn't that exactly the thinking that got us into this mess in the first place?

Between Bernake and Bush, it's hard to decide who should have a bigger cup of stfu:

During a meeting with business leaders in Louisiana, George Bush said people's attitudes had changed from "near panic" to a "more relaxed" approach.

Play the video. You have to hear him say it. G'head.

"This thaw... it took a while tuhh thaw, it's gonna take a while tuhh un-thaw."

Yeah, okay, Bush wins.

1] Bernanke has to do SOMEthing to shore up the Christmas buying season!!! God forbid we should use the holiday to spend time with loved ones rather than buy shit we don't need...

2] I honestly can't stand to listen to that blithering idiot anymore. Why the hell is he even relevant? Can't we shut him in a closet in the White House basement or something until January 20, 2009?

As for #2

If you were to lock away Bush this close to Halloween, Zombie Cheney would rise from his secret chamber 'neath Number One Observatory Circle and roam the earth eating the hearts, picking the pockets and tapping the phones, of the middle class...OUT IN THE OPEN! Muhahahahahaahah!

Not so much. Lower interest rates and not properly researching prospective mortgage applicants is what got us here. Allowing people with good credit to get more credit (be it a mortgage, car loan, or credit card) isn't really a bad thing.

The quote doesn't say anything about discriminating about whom to give more credit to.

True, but everyone's already being more cautious. GMAC has already announced that they will not give loans to anyone with a credit score below 700. Not that it's the only thing they should check, but it's a good indicator.
